In the summer of 1987, Los Angeles DJ Michael Ross and his partners converted a tiny L.A. apartment into a recording studio and started a record label called Delicious Vinyl. Championing artists from the streets and producing their music for dance floors and living rooms worldwide, the upstart label quickly made hip hop history with the release of Tone Loc’s runaway hit “Wild Thing” and Young MC’s instant classic “Bust A Move. Following the beats down the road less traveled, his astute signings and musical guidance of The Brand New Heavies, The Pharcyde, Born Jamericans, Masta Ace, and The Whoridas kept Delicious Vinyl ruling the funhouse. From its expressionistic funky music, to its classic wash’n’wear logo t-shirt, Delicious Vinyl stands out for its streetwise savvy, staunch independence, and for shaping the soulsonic sound-scape of today. In 2014, Michael expanded the DV brand by partnering with Los Angeles restauranteur Fred Sutherland. In early 2015, they celebrated the grand opening of the West Adams neighborhood hotspot Delicious Pizza.
